See and hear every truck and trail horn

Quick product demos of every horn — how it sounds, how it mounts on your drill battery, and how to fire it from the remote before you load the rig and roll out.

Built for the rig

Why a real air horn belongs in your truck or Jeep

Trucks, Jeeps and 4x4s live in a wall of noise — a loaded diesel pulling a grade, mud tires droning, lockers in, and a trail wind that never lets up. The little horn behind your grille just disappears into all of it, usually right when a blind switchback, a regroup at a fork or a spotter waving you back is exactly when you need to be heard.

A train-horn-style air horn gives you a low, carrying 150 dB note that holds its own against any of it. Tap it to mark your line into a blind corner on the trail, to call the convoy back together, to warn the truck merging into your towed trailer, or to tell the chase rig a recovery's underway. One pull says "I'm right here" louder than anything else on the dirt.

Where can you legally sound an air horn on a truck or 4x4?

Be straight about where you fire it. On public roads, what a vehicle is allowed to sound is set by your state's motor-vehicle code, and many states restrict non-standard or excessively loud horns — so a 150 dB blast is not a street toy and shouldn't be pointed at other drivers in traffic.

Where a horn like this truly earns its keep is off the pavement: OHV parks, designated trail systems, staging areas, the open desert, the worksite and private land with the owner's okay. Use it for genuine signaling — your line, a convoy regroup, a recovery, a heads-up to your own group while towing on a backroad — and never to blast hikers, horses, livestock or wildlife. Check the rules for the trail system or park you're running before you go.

How much volume does a trail rig actually need?

Handheld air horns generally land between 110 and 150 decibels. The train-horn-style kits in this collection reach up to 150 dB — a deep, locomotive-grade blast built to carry over a revving engine and across open terrain, not just to the rig parked beside you.

Use it responsibly. 150 dB is no joke, so aim the trumpets out toward open ground, never fire it near ears, kids, pets or your own crew working on the ground, and keep to short bursts. Loud is the whole point — just point it at the horizon, not the cab.

How a drill-battery horn works in your rig

There's no compressor to bolt down, no air tank to plumb under the bed, and no harness to splice into an already-crowded dash. Each horn pairs an on-board air pump with real metal trumpets, so the whole unit is self-contained and rides in a gear bag, a bed box or behind the seat.

Power comes from the cordless-drill battery you almost certainly already keep in the garage. Slide it into the base — compatible with Milwaukee® M18™, DeWalt® 20V MAX, Makita® 18V LXT®, Ryobi® ONE+® and more — and squeeze the trigger. Select models add a wireless remote that works from up to 2,000 ft, so a spotter or trail leader can set it off without standing at the truck. When the pack runs low, recharge it exactly like your drill.

Matching a horn to your truck, Jeep or 4x4

No two rigs run the same way — here's how to dial one in to yours:

  • Trumpet count. Single, dual and quad-trumpet builds stack the tone — more trumpets give you a fuller, deeper blast.
  • Tone style. Reach for a LOUDEST trumpet for maximum cut-through over a loud truck, or LOW TONE for that deep, serious freight-train growl.
  • Remote range. Remote-equipped models trigger from up to 2,000 ft — handy for a spotter, the chase truck, or a regroup signal across a big staging lot.
  • Battery brand. Pick the model that runs on the drill packs already in your rig, so you're never hunting for power at the trailhead.
  • Grab-and-go. With no tank or compressor, it lives in a deck box or bed bag and tops off between runs.

Your pre-run rig checklist

Before you load up and roll out, run the list:

  • Charged pack in the base — plus a spare drill battery in the bag for a long day deep off the grid.
  • Horn stowed dry and reachable — a bed box, deck cubby or behind-the-seat slot, not buried under the recovery gear.
  • Remote paired and tested if your model has one, so a spotter is one press from a blast.
  • Trumpets aimed outward — point them at open terrain, away from your crew and anyone on the ground.
  • Know the rules — keep it to genuine signals on the trail or worksite, off public roads, and never aimed at hikers, horses or wildlife.

Truck, Jeep & off-road air horns — FAQ

Where am I allowed to use an air horn on my truck or Jeep?
On public roads, what your vehicle can sound is governed by your state's motor-vehicle code, and many states limit non-standard or overly loud horns — so this isn't a street device. Off the pavement it's a different story: OHV parks, designated trail systems, staging areas, the open desert, worksites and private land (with permission) are where it belongs. Use it for real signaling, never to blast hikers, livestock or wildlife, and check the rules for your trail system or park first.
How loud is the horn?
Up to 150 dB — a deep, train-horn-style blast made to carry over a revving engine and across open terrain. Handheld air horns typically run 110 to 150 dB, and ours sit at the top of that range. Respect it: aim the trumpets at open ground, keep it clear of ears, kids and pets, and use short bursts.
Does it need a compressor or an air tank?
No. There's no compressor, no air tank and no harness to splice into your dash. An on-board air pump drives real metal trumpets, so the whole unit is self-contained and grab-and-go — it runs entirely off a cordless-drill battery.
Which drill batteries does it work with?
It runs on common cordless-drill packs — compatible with Milwaukee® M18™, DeWalt® 20V MAX, Makita® 18V LXT®, Ryobi® ONE+® and more. Pick the model that matches the batteries already in your garage or rig and slide the pack into the base.
How far does the remote reach?
Select models include a wireless remote that works from up to 2,000 ft, so a spotter, trail leader or your chase truck can fire a blast without standing at the horn. Range varies by model — check the product page for the exact horn you're considering.
Can I use it to signal my group on a trail run or convoy?
Yes — that's exactly what it's built for. Use it to mark your line into a blind corner, call the convoy back together at a fork, warn another rig while towing on a backroad, or signal that a recovery is underway. Keep the trumpets pointed at open terrain and away from people, and save it for genuine signals rather than constant noise.
Is 150 dB safe to use?
It's safe when you handle it sensibly. 150 dB is very loud, so always aim the trumpets toward open terrain and away from people, never fire it near ears, children, pets or your crew on the ground, and stick to short bursts rather than holding the trigger down. Treat it like the powerful signaling tool it is.
How do I recharge it?
Just like your drill. When the cordless-drill battery in the base runs low, pop it out and charge it on your normal charger, then drop it back in — there are no air canisters or CO2 cartridges to buy or refill, ever.
How fast does it ship?
Orders placed before 2 PM PT ship the same business day, so you can have your horn charged and packed before your next tow or trail run.
