DeWalt Train Horn Review — Extreme, Quad, and Dual Compared

DeWalt Train Horn Review — Extreme, Quad, and Dual Compared

Alright, guys, today I’ve got something really cool — three different DeWalt Train Horns by BossHorn that I’ve been testing for the past few days. These are the Extreme Series, the Quad Trumpets, and the Dual Trumpets. I’ve seen tons of videos about them online, and now that I’ve tried all three myself, here’s my honest, simple review — no fancy words, just straight talk.

First Impressions

When you take one of these horns out of the box, the first thing you notice is the build quality. Seriously — these things look like they came straight from a DeWalt factory. The main body is an actual brand-new DeWalt impact driver, not a replica or a cheap copy. The metal trumpets have a nice powder-coated finish — they feel solid, heavy, and just overall premium. Everything fits perfectly, nothing feels loose or wobbly. It’s the kind of thing you can tell was made with care.

Another thing I love — they work with any DeWalt 20V battery, including the aftermarket ones. I tried a few different types, and every single one worked perfectly. That’s a huge plus for anyone who already owns DeWalt tools.

The Three Models Compared

Dual Trumpets (Compact)

The Dual Trumpets version is the smallest and lightest of the three. It’s surprisingly loud for its size — definitely not quiet — but compared to the other two, it’s the least intense. The tone is a bit higher, kind of like a big truck horn rather than a full-blown train. It’s super easy to carry around though, and if you just want something compact and convenient, this one does the job.

Quad Trumpets (Balanced)

Next up is the Quad Trumpets horn. This one hits the sweet spot. It’s much louder than the Dual and has a deeper tone. It’s still not as heavy or bulky as the Extreme Series, but it packs a serious punch. I’d say this one is perfect if you want power and portability at the same time. When you fire it off, it’s got that real train horn vibe that makes people turn their heads instantly.

Extreme Series (The Loudest)

Now for the big one — the Extreme Series. This thing is absolutely insane. The first time I pulled the trigger, I actually jumped a little. It’s the loudest of the three, with a deep, powerful, low-pitched tone that sounds like a real freight train bearing down on you. It’s intense, it’s awesome, and it’s definitely my favorite. If you want the real deal, this is the one to get.

Cool Features You Should Know About

All three horns come with a three-level volume adjustment. That’s super handy because sometimes you just don’t need full power — especially if you’re testing it indoors or showing it to friends. You can easily switch between low, medium, and high volume modes depending on your situation.

There’s also something I think a lot of people will appreciate: a battery protection system. Older BossHorn models didn’t have this, and people sometimes ended up with dead batteries because the remote receiver kept drawing a little bit of power even when not in use. Now, that’s fixed. The horn automatically shuts off the remote receiver after three hours of being connected. That means no more drained or “dead” batteries if you forget to disconnect it — super smart update!

And for anyone who needs the receiver to stay always on (for example, if you’re using it as a permanent setup or for a show), there’s a setting for that too. Just remember: in that mode, you’ll want to manually disconnect your battery when you’re done to avoid draining it overnight.

Final Thoughts

Honestly, I’m really impressed. All three horns feel like professional, well-built products — not some random DIY thing. The quality is top-notch, the materials feel premium, and they look like something that could have come straight from DeWalt’s own production line. Plus, they’re ready to go right out of the box — no wiring, no air tanks, no installation headaches. Just plug in your battery and blast away.

For me personally, the Extreme Series wins hands down. That deep rumble and insane volume just hit differently. But I can totally see people choosing the Quad or Dual models depending on their needs.

BossHorn really nailed it with these. You can tell they’ve been doing this for a while — over three years of experience, tons of happy customers, and it shows. These are powerful, fun, and built to last. Whether you want to turn heads, make a statement, or just have some loud fun, the DeWalt Train Horn lineup is worth every penny.
